Primary Chutes & Ladders Printable Game Poster

I can't think of a more classic children's game then Chutes & Ladders, so I decided to make a primary version we can use for singing time! One of my primary purchases last year included a pair of large foam dice that will be perfect for this game. The larger dice will make it easier for all the children to see the number rolled and will save us time being on our hands and knees searching for small dice flung with a little too much enthusiasm... I plan to use a couple of basic round magnets as game pieces, but I might work on making little character magnets if I'm feeling extra ambitious one day.

To play, split the primary into two groups. Boys vs. girls is always an easy way to do it but you can divide them however works best for your primary. When the children land on a green space, you/they can pick a song to sing. For the spaces with ladders, I highlighted a commandment (because doing these things leads to growth and forward progress!) and planned to sing songs related to the commandment shown. For the spaces with chutes, I highlighted a simple sin primary children might commit that would lead to negative consequences.

When the children get to the end, they reach the temple! You can use this as an opportunity to talk about the temple being our goal and a place we strive to be. If you have time, you might even want to finish out by singing "I Love to See the Temple."

To add this fun singing time activity to your arsenal, follow the link below and download the PNG file. From there you can send it to your favorite photo center to be printed. Please note, the file is meant to be printed as a 24 x 36 inch poster, so anything larger will have lower resolution quality and may appear a bit blurry. But you can certainly print it in a smaller size, so long as you make sure the ratio is the same.
